Happenings The Marion Historic Association will meet Saturday, August 23, at 'Jennie's House' between the hours of 2 and 4 p.m. In honor of the 100th Birthday of Marion's Public Library Bring your ideas and suggestions and tour the first floor of our 'museum to be.' The past year has been an interesting one. More work has been accomplished in the kitchen, the garage and in the other down stair rooms. Staining and sealing of the wainscot, in the kitchen gives the room a more finished look. Barbara Brown of Sunset Drive, traveled to her daughter's in Malone, to attend the exercises of her granddaughter, Katie's graduation from Potsdam, with a Master's Degree in Biology and Chemistry. Barb also spent a week with her family in May. July 1922: Marion will celebrate the Fourth of July in a sane and appropriate manner. The proceeds of the dinner and various refreshment booths will be divided between the library and the band. July Birthstone - Ruby; The Ruby is 'The Sun's Own Gem.' It is a regal stone. Ranked among the world's most precious gems, the finest Rubies of a larger size exceed in value fine diamonds in similar size. As a birthstone, the Ruby symbolizes freedom, charity, dignity and divine power. June 26, 1952 - Frederick Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Allen and Gordon Buyck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Buyck, were each awarded $50, the Calvin Monroe Rice Memorial prize at Commencement exercises. One of the desserts we will try this weekend is 'Dang Good Pie.'
Melt butter and mix with remaining ingredients. Pour into unbaked pie shell and bake 1 hour at 350 degrees or until set and brown. 'A balanced diet is a cookie in each hand.'
