Peppermint Days fills The Lyons Peppermint Days celebration has begun. The Prince and Princess contest takes place today at 5:30, and the Nick Gillette Band concert is at 7, in the Village Square Park. Friday events include tours of the museum, free admission, from 10 to 4. Vendors and rides will be open Friday evening, and 'The Surge' will play music from 6-10 p.m. Kiddie parade is at 7 p.m. Friday. The grand parade will be Saturday, July 12 at 6 p.m. Events are planned all day long, starting with Farm Market at 7:30 a.m. and concluding with fireworks 'Thunder over the Erie' at 10 p.m. There is a car show Sunday from 9 to 3. Ghost Walks are planned for Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m., starting at the courthouse. Musical entertainment Saturday includes Larry Stamatel, Johnny Bauer, Dixieland Jazz and Synergy R&B. Sunday, the Lyons Civic Club is offering horse-drawn trolley tours in the village. The 45-minute tours will begin at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. and leave from 99 Broad Street, the former home of J. Edgar Jennings, the first mayor of Lyons. Sharon Lubitow will share history and memorable stories that relate to some of the former families, businesses and churches on Broad, Water, Pearl, Church, Queen and William Streets.
