Tellier Road bridge opened this morning

The Tellier Rd. Bridge was officially opened at 9 a.m. on July 17, after a six-week, $298,000 project to replace the previously red-flagged bridge.

County Highway Superintendent James Brady said the new unlimited weight limit replaced the substandard 6-ton structure. Had the county waited for federal funding as originally planned, reconstruction of the unsafe bridge might have taken two to three years.

'I want to thank the public and Cleasons in particular for their patience and cooperation,' Brady said.

Opening the bridge are James Brady, Town of Arcadia Supervisor Dick Colacino, James Cleason, and Kevin Rooney, W.C. Highway Dept. Engineer.

James Cleason of Cleason, Inc., the concrete and quarry business located immediately west of the bridge, estimated an additional cost of about $7500 for the three-mile detour route during construction for all eastbound trucks. However, he also cited the new structure is safer, more attractive and with a projected 100-year life span, it should not require such work again for generations.
