Olivia Maddock is crowned Miss NSA

Olivia Maddock of Lyons, daughter of Pat and Lauren Maddock, won the Miss NSA contest at the National Softball Association World Series in Charlotte, North Carolina this week.

She is a three-sport Scholar Athlete at Lyons and carries a 3.8 GPA.

Maddock was inducted into the Lyons Honor Society this year. In addition to being an A student, she participates in Varsity Club, Student Council, SADD, Yearbook Staff, Band, Jazz, Band, Pit Band, Marching Band's Color Guard and is Secretary of the Class of 2009.

She has played volleyball every fall where the LCSD team has been undefeated in league play and won the NYS Class D Section V Title for the past four years! Olivia also joined the track team and learned to shot put and then took sixth place in NYS Section V this year.

Softball is her passion. She has been the catcher for the Lyons Lady Lions Varsity since eighth grade and catches for the Finger Lakes Lakers travel team since 2003, playing over 70 games a year.

She has been a team captain and made 1st Team All County for the last three years. Awards for softball have been numerous, including the Defensive Player of the Year twice, Birds Eye Player of the Week, Team MVP and Honorable Mention for the All Greater Rochester Team.

She always strives for excellence and attended the University of Massachusetts Catchers camp and Impact Hitting Lessons.

Her intent is to finish high school with honors, double major in Speech Pathology/Audiology and Special Education in college and of course, to play softball at the collegiate level.

National Softball Association was formed in 1982 and is a full service organization that offers a division of play and level of competition that youth through adults can enjoy.

There are over 50,000 teams registered currently and several regional World Series offered for participation yearly. The Class B World Series is in Charlotte, NC where Maddock is playing with the Finger Lakes Lakers and 110 other teams this week.
