On Thursday, July 24 at 6:30 p.m., the Lyons Public Library will present Songs of the Erie Canal by Allen Hopkins.

Songs about the construction of the canal (1816-26), about canallers' lives and work, and about the folklore of the canal will be included.

Examples of songs are: The Meeting of the Waters of Hudson and Erie, Oh That Low Bridge, Paddy On the Canal, Buffalo to Troy, Ee-ri-ee Was Risin', Trip On the Erie, Low Bridge, etc.

This program is free and made possible by a grant from the Robert G. Boehmler Foundation.
