Postal Worker Shot with BB Gun

A US Postal Service worker, employed out of the Newark office, was fortunate to receive only minor injuries on Friday when she was hit by a BB in front of 506 East Union St.

Jocelyn M. Eller, 44, was delivering mail near in the 500 block of East Union St. at approximately 12:44 p.m. when she was hit near her left eye with a BB shot from a nearby tree. Eller cautioned two boys with the BB gun to be more careful but they laughed at her.

Newark Police did not think it was funny and charged the two underage juveniles with assault, and unlawful possession of a weapon under the age of 16 years. The BB gun and ammunition was confiscated by Police and the juveniles and their parents or guardians will answer the charges in family court.
