Rose Supervisor is a Woman of Distinction
Collier is a lifelong resident of this area, who dedicated her life to teaching in schools around the region for 40 years. She was a teacher in the Rochester City School District, the North Rose-Wolcott Central School District, and at a private nursery school before retiring after 40 years of teaching service. Collier is serving her second term as Town of Rose Supervisor, and her background in local government includes 20 years on the Rose Town Board, three years on the Rose Zoning Board of Appeals, and three years on the Wayne County Water Authority Board. She greatly values service to others and is active in the Rose community. She has organized the town's annual Memorial Day service and parade since 1970 and previously acted as president of the Rose Public Health Committee. She is involved with the North Rose United Methodist Church, directing its Junior Choir since 1967, as well as being involved with a number of other church choirs. She has two daughters, two grandchildren, and cares for her 93-year-old father, who lives with her. Collier serves as an example for achievement and excellence for our entire community. Her name now joins other women whose accomplishments, dedication and deeds on behalf of others are deserving special honor. Collier was honored on June 3 at a reception in Albany, where her photograph and biography were displayed in a special public exhibit at the New York State Legislative Office Building. The Woman of Distinction program was created in 1998 to honor women whose professional achievements or acts of courage, selflessness, integrity or perseverance serve as an example to all New Yorkers.
