United Way of Wayne
passes $896,000 goal

The United Way of Wayne County exceeded its 2008 campaign goal by $12,000. To date $908,000 has been raised to help programs that target student readiness and success; strengthening people and families; and supporting people in crisis.

'Last years campaign raised $921,000, but despite the worsening economy, we pulled together as a community and achieved our 2008 goal,' said United Ways Board President, Mike Calarco, of Newark.

'We are very grateful for the trust and generous support of the community in light of the economic hardships everyone has had to face,' he said.

'Early campaign results were led by organizations such as ExxonMobil generating $235,000 and Constellation Energy Group whose contributions totaled $171,000 for United Way,' said Carol Pettis, Regional Director for United Way.

The United Way supports more than 30 programs and services throughout the community.

United Way of Wayne County is a volunteer-driven organization that improves the quality of life in Wayne County by raising and fairly investing in resources to support accountable programs.
