Spring Fest at Hospital

Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, DeMay Living Center and the Newark-Wayne Auxiliary will be hosting the community event, 'Spring Fest: Get Healthy. Be Well.' on June 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the grounds of the hospital.

The free event is made possible with the help of partners including:

Newark Wegmans, Dr Pepper Snapple, Ultralife, Lincoln School PTA, Newark Kiwanis Club, Newark Police Department, WACK Radio and Wayne County Public Health.

New this year courtesy of Dr Pepper Snapple, Inc. and Ultralife, families will be given LeapPad computer games and batteries (one unit per family, ages 3 to 5, a child/children must be present).

Other activities - bike helmet fitting and give-away (600 helmets available) - limited quantities and sizes, for children (ages 2 to 12); a bike rodeo for kids; drawings for FREE bicycles; a car seat safety check;

FREE cholesterol screens - offered on a 'first come, first serve' basis. 12-hour fasting from food is suggested. Diabetics should follow their physician's orders.

Blood pressure checks will be done; FREE refreshments; visits from emergency medical service providers including Mercy Flight Central; hospital departments and Wayne County organizations displays; fun music and much more.

The Emergency Department will sponsor the Teddy Bear Clinic and children are invited to bring a teddy bear or other stuffed friends for emergency care.
