Happenings We now have a series of five maps, created in 1929, showing the residences of folks living here at that time and locations and names of the businesses, too. It's a tour of the town at an earlier time - churches with horse sheds in the rear of the property outlying buildings of the factories that were in business at that time. They were recently laminated for easier handling. I heard of a man, who in celebration of his recent birthday, asked his wife take him somewhere expensive. She drove him to the Mobil Gasoline Station! In the days before ginger ale and Pepsi, folks made up a 'refresher' to take to the fields with them called 'Switchel.' 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup vinegar, 1tablespoon ginger, combine with two quarts water, mix well, chill, and serve cold. 'If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.' In celebration of her recent graduation from the University of Texas at Arlington, with a Degree of BA in Business Administration, in Marketing, Priscilla Christianson has been visiting family members in the area. She's the granddaughter of Joyce Cantwell and Chris and Ginny Christianson. John and Eileen Ballesty have been enjoying a visit from their son, Dan and Joyce, and their children, from Erie, Pennsylvania. They were looking forward to some swimming with this hot weather. If you haven't taken time to get to the Town Park to watch the 'little' kids play ball, you are missing something! Try to get there soon, about 6:30 p.m. and get in on the action. 2 and 1/2 cups flour Sift together the dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, beat the peanut butter, sugar and vanilla until well combined, add the egg. Gradually add the milk and stir until well blended, then add the flour mixture. Bake in a greased 9x5 loaf pan in a 350 deg. oven for one hour; let cool 10 minutes. Makes one loaf.
130 members of the Student Council were invited to an 'Ice Cream Social' - admission was two canned goods. Thanks to students of the Elementary School Student council for the huge amount of groceries collected for the Marion food pantry. These donations will be very appreciated by those less fortunate in our midst. This collection was under the direction of co-advisors Joanne Ferrari and Cheryl Vanderbrook. Copyright
