90 participants in Red Cross Run in Newark

June 14, the Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross held the 5K Run For The Red during the Newark Family Fun Festival. Ninety runners participated in the event, which raised over $4500 for disaster relief operations in Wayne County.

Market Alternatives LLC, Inc. was the title sponsor for the event. Market Alternatives owner Larry DePauw was the pistol starter and award presenter for the event.

Brandon Cowles of Newark was the events overall winner with a time of 17:59.

Newark resident Kim Law was the female winner with a time of 19:40.

Both winners received $50 cash prizes, which were donated back to the American Red Cross.

Other winners included Benjamin McCormick and Rebecca Steineiz in the 14 and under age bracket, Dynell Scott and Emily Rodenhouse in the 15-19 years of age bracket, Tyler LaTray (20-24), Duane Garner and Kristen Admiraal (25-29) age bracket, Rob Fitzwater and Chris McTieg (30-34), Andrew Correia and Michelle Mallach (35-39), John Tarplee and Grace Norcott (40-44), Kevin Sheehan and Vaun Blondell (45-49), Bob Hamilton and Joan Sewart (50-59), Rick Erb and Cathy Medina (60-69), and Dawn Wilcox in 70-79 bracket.
