Rev. Kevin Bushart, of Odessa, Texas recently spent time with his mother, Isabelle Bushart.

John & Jane Ballesty and sons Aidan and Brian, entertained with their first 'summer picnic' on June 22. Those invited were grandma & grandpa DeWandel and Aunt Carolyn & Uncle Gordon Adriaansen.

Eunice Ellsworth of Watervliet spent coffee time with friends at the Senior Apartments last week.

'Now I lay me down to rest,
A pile of books upon my chest,
If I should die before I wake,
that's one less test I'll have to take.'

June 27 - this evening is Marion High School Commencement

I highly recommend that you visit the Produce Stand on Mill Street soon! I bought some wonderful and delicious strawberries and tomatoes from them.

Do you think that all these field of corn will be 'knee high by the fourth of July?'

June 17, 1939: Marion citizens will again enjoy local band concerts here this summer after a lapse of two years. The first one has been set for Saturday evening, in Firemen's park. Theron Forbes will again direct his school band which won high honors in its class in district and state contests.

The Marion Food Pantry is open on Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Educational Building behind the Second Reformed Church on Mill Street.

Stephen Brown was surprised with a birthday party in honor of his 40th birthday on Thursday, June 19.

Barb Ruple has returned home from three and a half month vacation with her son Lee, in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. Her granddaughter, Shelby returned with her and will stay until later in July.

'Happy Birthday Wishes' to Coral Ebert in celebration of her 94th birthday on June 22. Her family celebrated with her with dinner at Connelly's Cove.

June 18, 1898: Hulling strawberries at the factory has kept the hands busy during the week.

'A smart wife is one who has the pork chops ready when her husband comes home from his fishing trip.'
