Commencement today at Newark High

More than 160 members of the Newark High School Class of 2008 will receive diplomas tonight at commencement exercises, outdoors on the football field, weather permitting.

Should it rain, the 8 p.m. commencement exercises will be indoors in the auditorium.

Graduates chose NHS English teacher John Dalton as the commencement speaker. Immediately following commencement, there will be a reception at which cake and punch will be served in the cafeteria, sponsored by the Class of 2009.

Operation Graduation will begin inside the school arounf 10:30, through 5:30 a.m. Saturday. The event provides graduates with a safe, chaperoned all-night, lock-in event at the school. It is sponsored by parents and the community at no cost to the graduating seniors.
