Musical at Newark High School this weekend
Pictured are Claire Walton (Philia) and Tim Crawford (Hero). (Bethany Comella photo) Show dates are March 7 and 8 at 7:30 and Sunday March 9 at 2 p.m. There is a special presentation of the show, for senior citizens, at 3:30 Thursday afternoon. The story, written by Larry Gelbart Burt Shevelove, is based on the comedies of an ancient Roman playwright named Plautus. The musical's main character, Pseudolus, is a crafty slave who wants nothing more than his freedom. He convinces his master, Hero, to grant his freedom if Pseudolus can help him win the love of his life, the beautiful courtesan Philia, who lives next door. Thus commences a series of hilarious episodes involving mistaken identity, chases, magic potions and long-lost siblings. Copyright
