Schools are closed March 21 & 24 for Mid-winter recess.

March 18 - Dollars for Scholars phone-a-thon.

When, oh when, are we going to get a grocery store in this town?

In answer to a question at my 'Sears Homes' presentation at the Newark Museum - By 1925 Sears Roebuck had opened 48 sales offices in 10 states.

March 16, 1928 - the Colonial Theater is set to reopen.

It's time to plant the grass seed in your Easter baskets!

At Eastertime, new hope awakes within our hearts as morning breaks, sunshine and lilies breathe a prayer of thanks that God is everywhere. Have a blessed Easter!

You might like to try 'Pretzel Dressing' with your Easter ham dinner.

  • 9 cups pretzels (1-10 oz. box pretzel sticks)
  • 1.5 cups onion, chopped
  • 2 Stalks celery, chopped
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 3/4 tsp. sage
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper

Put pretzels in 9x13 casserole (rinse if they are extra salty). Brown onions and celery in butter. Pour this and the chicken broth over pretzels. Sprinkle with sage and pepper; toss lightly and bake 350 degrees for one hour.

March 19, 1942: Sales of defense stamps at school increased for the third consecutive week. A total of 259 stamps amounting to $28.45 were sold at the Defense Stamp Center.
