Contestants needed for On Saturday, June 14 the Savannah Chamber of Commerce is celebrating the Community. They are asking elementary Children to design a postage stamp that features Turtles. Because of the large amount of wetlands in Savannah, there's an abundance of Turtles there. The three common turtles in our area are the Box Turtle, the Painted Turtle and the Snapping Turtle. Children need to draw a picture that features a turtle. The winning picture will be made into a postage stamp that will be made into an actual postage stamp. Stamps will be on sale starting on June 14 and will be sold until all are sold. If you have any questions about the contest or is interested in purchasing one of the stamps, contact Carol Spellman at 315.365.3156. The Photography Contest will highlight a Special Building or Places within Savannah. All Colored photographs are to be no larger than 8 X 10 inches and no smaller than 4 X 6 inches. The picture needs to be in a frame. On the back, please share the place of the picture and why it is special to you and your name. All pictures may be handed in to Amanda Brockman at the Savannah Bank, Charles Carman at the Savannah Post Office, at the Town Hall or give them to Julie Van Leeuwen. All pictures will be on display on June 14, and the top three awards will be on display through the month of June. First Place will win $25.00, Second Place -$10.00 and Third Place will receive $5.00. For further information about the photography contest contact Julie VanLeeuwen at 315.365.3336. A Talent Showcase will also be held at the pavilion on the Potato Fest Field. Vocal, Instrumental, Skits, and Dance Performances are all welcome. Ribbons and Cash Awards Of over $150.00 will be given out. This year we are also calling for all youth bands to come for a battle of the bands with a special cash award given to the winning band.
