Hundreds of teens will volunteer The Group Workcamps Foundation of Loveland, Colorado will be bringing the Week of Hope program to meet volunteer needs all over Wayne County in the summer of 2008. The 'Week of Hope provides an incredible opportunity for students to put their Christian faith into action,' says Joel Fay, President and CEO of the Group Workcamps foundation. 'It develops character and a service-mindset in youth, while providing real rewards to the communities we work in.' The Week of Hope will be housed at Woodlane Community Church in Newark, with local schools providing shower facilities. Campers will sleep on floors, eat together in the large meeting room, and enjoying inspirational morning and evening programs. 'This service to the community would be impossible without the wonderful cooperation of Woodlane,' said Jay Roscup, Week of Hope Coordinator and Executive Director of Scarlet Thread Ministries. The Group Workcamps Foundation will reimburse all costs to the lodging facility. New groups of up to 99 campers will arrive and depart each week. The teen volunteers and their adult leaders each pay their own way to come to our area for a week of service. 'Week of Hope' campers will leave out from Newark and travel to work sites in Williamson, Sodus, Lyons, Newark and more. Out on site they will provide activities for children, clean homes or equipment, fold newsletters, paint, drag brush, trim shrubs and whatever else is asked of them. Partnering Organizations like the Sodus Council of Churches, WayneCAP, ABCD, Wayne County Rural Ministries, Scarlet Thread Ministries, the Victim Resource Center, Hospitals and Nursing Homes all help direct the labor hours of these teen servants to where they are needed. Group Workcamps Foundation has developed a unique program that helps kids mature in Christian faith through volunteer community service. Headquartered in Loveland, Colorado, Group Workcamps Foundation was founded in 1977, after the Big Thompson River Flood. This tragedy united various church youth groups in the Northern Colorado region to help rebuild homes of affected residents. More than 270,000 volunteers and 40,000 projects later, the Group Workcamps Foundation continues to impact thousands of lives and bring hope to communities across the United States every summer.
