Oaks withdraws from
Congressional District Race

Assemblyman Bob Oaks today announced his withdrawal from the 25th Congressional District race and is giving full support to Dale Sweetland as the Republican candidate.

At the same time, he is announcing his re-election bid for the 128th Assembly District seat.

'Over the past month, I had an incredible experience pursuing the Republican designation for Congress. It allowed me the opportunity to make numerous new friends throughout the district, especially in Onondaga County. I was able to discuss critical issues important to our residents and hear about their hopes and dreams for the future of our region and our nation,' he said.

Thursday evening, the Onondaga County Republican Committee spoke loudly and definitively and the recent poll shows Dale Sweetland's strength district wide.

Oaks continued, 'Over the past month of competing for the Republican designation, I have seen Dale Sweetland on a nearly daily basis. I am convinced that Dale has the desire and the combination of experience as an elected official and in private business to represent our area well in Washington.'
