Mincemoyer not running for school board;
petitions due May 12

With incumbent Newark School Board member JoAnn Mincemoyer's decision not to run for another term in the May 20 election, the school district has reopened the nominating petition process as required by State Department of Education law.

Mincemoyer had filed a nominating petition to run for a second term, but has decided against it.

There are two candidates - Yvonne MacTaggart and Joe De Santo - running for the two, three-year seats being vacated by incumbents Steve Murphy and Mincemoyer. Still, SED law requires the nominating petition process be reopened.

The law requires the petitions be received no later than seven days before the election.

District Clerk Bob Fogel said nominating petitions may be obtained at his office beginning May 8 and may be received, with the required 25 signatures, until 5 p.m. on May 12.
