Red Cross classes start May 19 Wayne Co. Chapter of the American Red Cross will be offering two courses in aquatics training to prepare for great job opportunities. The Water Safety Instructor course is for anyone 16 or older that is a proficient swimmer. Upon completion of this course, Red Cross certification enables you to teach infants through adults how to swim. All classes will be held at the Clyde Savannah High School Pool at 215 Glasgow St., Clyde. The schedule is: May 19, 21, 27 & June 3, 5, 9, 11 &12 from 5-10 p.m. The fee includes all materials, supplies, and Red Cross certification. For those 15 and older with good leadership skills and able to make quick decisions, becoming a Lifeguard is the place to start. Your Red Cross certification as a Lifeguard will help people stay safe in the water. All classes will be held at the Newark High School Pool at 625 Peirson Ave, Newark (with the exception of June 14). The schedule is: June 9 from 4-8 p.m., June 10-13 from 4 to 7, June 14 from 8 to 4 (at the Red Cross Chapter House) and June 16 & 17 from 4 to 7. The fee includes all supplies, materials and Red Cross certification. A Waterfront class will be held June 18 from 4-8 p.m. for an additional fee of $25.
