Dinner at Carey Lake
for Historical Society

The annual dinner of the Wayne County Historical Society was held at Carey Lake restaurant in Walworth. The crowd of nearly 80 people enjoyed cocktails while listening to old-time Bluegrass music played by Paul Stoep, Jeff Hayes and Dan Simpson.

After dinner, Board President Kathi Marshall held a brief annual meeting and gave a financial report and statement to the members.

Marshall also announced the Wii Membership Drive. Those who take a new membership (not a renewal) at the Cobblestone level, $30, will be entered into a drawing for the Wii. We feel that this will be a great opportunity for families to get involved with the museum, said Marshall. The drawing for the Wii will be held Saturday, July 12 during Peppermint Days.

Marshall then introduced Executive Director, Larry Ann Evans who briefed the attendees on what the museum has been up to since the last annual meeting and announced the museum's slate of 2009 exhibits.

Evans introduced well known, award-winning actress, Eleanor Stearns, who surprised everyone by performing Clara Barton. Stearns audience was captivated and transported back in time as they listened to Barton, the first president of the American Red Cross, relate her life and times.
