Red Cross 5K Run June 14 in Newark

American Red Cross will present the 'Market Alternatives 2008 5K Run For The Red,' Saturday June 14. Registration will begin at 8 at the Central Park bandstand on Main St., Newark. The race will begin at 9.

An awards ceremony will follow the race where medals will be given to the top three finishers in each age bracket, as well as a $50 cash prize to the top overall male and female runners. The entry fee is $12 pre-registration (postmarked by June 5) and $15 day of the race.

The course is an accurately wheeled 5K (5,000 meter) course. It is a USATF certified race, code NY97007AM. Free refreshments will be served at the finish line. T-shirts will be given out to the first 100 run/walk entrants. Participants will receive a free raffle ticket that will be used during a raffle drawing for prizes.
