County Fair Queen hails from Williamson
County Fair Pageant participants are Kristen Hance, Katelyn White, Kelly Matava, Queen Leah Paschke, Miss Congeniality - Hannah Wolf, Princess -Courtney Hill, Taylor Guerin, Carolyn Garski, Calley Shurgot. Leah Paschke, 18, a senior from Williamson, was chosen as the 2008 Wayne County Fair Queen. The pageant was held April 25 at Marion High School. She competed with 14 contestants between the ages of 15-18 for the crown. She is the daughter of Mary Jane Haugh of Williamson and Rolf Paschke of East Rochester and has been the Alto Section Leader for the High School Chorus. She sings the national anthem at school and community events and is a member of the National Technical Honor Society. Sports activities include playing Varsity volleyball, basketball and softball. She has been recognized as a Wayne County All-Star in volleyball and basketball. She will attend college, majoring in business, and wants to own a day spa and salon. First Runner Up is Kelly Matava, 17, a senior at Wayne, who plans to attend West Virginia University. in the Fall. She is the daughter of Rick and Kathy Matava of Ontario. Second Runner Up is Katelyn White, 18, a senior at Williamson. She is the daughter of Jeffrey and Louise White. Kristin Hance, 17, of Marion is third Runner Up. She is the daughter of Keith and Lori Hance of Marion. Courtney Hill, a 6th grader at Williamson Middle School, is the Fair Princess. She completed with 23 other contestants. She is 12 and is the daughter of Scott and Dacia Hill. She is a member of the Bible Baptist Church (Sodus) and youth group, Williamson Wildcats traveling soccer, the student association, volunteer club and the National Military Family Association. First Runner Up Princess is Taylor Guerin, 13, of Marion, a 7th grader, daughter of Todd and Renee Guerin. Second Runner Up is Carolyn Garski, 14, a freshman at Our Lady of Mercy High School. She is the daughter of Jerry and Lynn Garski of Macedon. Third Runner Up is Calley Shurgot, 13, an 8th grader at Marion, daughter of Robin and Larry Shurgot. Chosen by all the contestants as Miss Congeniality is Hannah Wolf, 13, a 7th grader at Palmyra-Macedon. She is the daughter of Rick Wolf of Palmyra and Debbie Wolf of Walworth. Radio and television personality Melanie Barnas was the Emcee for the pageant. 2007 Wayne County Fair Queen Heather Mackey of Marion and 2007 Wayne County Fair Princess Katrina Fedczuk of Newark were commentators. The Marion Show Choir entertained the audience. Pre-pageant activities included a welcome group photo session, pizza party and fun and games party. All contestants received training on interviewing, public speaking and modeling. Area businesses donated gifts and gift certificates to the contestants and winners.
