The party, held at the Presbyterian Home, included cake, punch and fancy cups for coffee. Okay’s memories of Marion include enjoying fruit trees in bloom and the "wonderful" Dutch people. Oct. 26, 1917 — Letter postage has been increased to three cents beginning Nov. 2. Nov. 24, 1931 — The Presbyterian chicken pie supper and sale will be held in the Baptist Church on Friday. Miss Delaphine Clark’s class will have a fish pond. Aprons, fancy articles, candy and baked goods will be for sale. "I would like to give thanks for many things On this Thanksgiving Day, Thanks for all the blessings life brings each day along the way." Best wishes for a happy Thanksgiving. Library notes — Marion, Nov. 29, 1921 The boys of the "Over the Top" class of the Presbyterian Sunday School have given $1 each to the library for the purchase of books. Used in that way, the money will be increased to $2 through the allotment from the state for book purchases. These boys are live wires and are showing their appreciation of the library in a very practical way. We are hoping that the patrons of the library who are not taxpayers will contribute soon to our cause. It seems only fair to those who must pay that the others help also. The United Church of Marion and The Second Reformed Church of Marion are joining together to sponsor a community Thanksgiving service. Come with your family, neighbors and friends to give thanks to the Lord. The service this year is being hosted by Second Reformed on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 7:30 p.m. Pastor David Wagnen of the United Church will preach. The choirs will join together for an anthem. Offerings will be received for the Marion Community Christmas food basket program, formerly the "White Gift" program. A nursery will be provided. Friends are welcome Copyright
