One of our Advent missions is 'Operation Christmas Child.' This project is part of Franklin Graham's 'Samaritan Purse' Ministry. Sunday School classes are asking as many people as possible to make a box for a child. Small toys, jump ropes, books and ball caps are some items that could be put in the boxes. Items for the boxes may be placed in a special container in the Narthex. If you would rather pay the $7 shipping cost only, the kids will be collecting in the Narthex after each service. Boxes are due at the United Church no later than November 9th. (Last year we mailed 16 boxes - we would like to double that this year).

In talking to Catherine Mooney, I found her Christmas cactus also blossoms on Halloween.
