Assessor issues alert to senior citizens about
By John Zornow, Courier-Gazette Staff Writer

Town of Arcadia Assessor Larry Quinn issued a warning this week to taxpayers, especially those 65 or older, not to confuse the STAR rebate with the Senior STAR (enhanced) school tax exemption.

In response to news releases sent from Albany, Quinn warns that some seniors may believe they don't have to apply each and every year for their Senior (Enhanced) STAR school tax exemption.

If you are 65 or older and want to participate in the Senior Enhanced STAR Exemption, you must apply each year.

'Renewal notices are sent each year to every current recipient of the Senior Enhanced STAR program. There may be some folks who have already left for winter homes, believing that they don't need to re-apply,' said Quinn. Anyone with questions may phone him at 331.3914.
