Reservations needed Sunday for dinner in Fairville

Wayne County's 900 Farm Bureau members are invited to the meeting and dinner at the Fairville Fire Hall, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. Please RSVP by Sunday, Oct. 5 by calling toll-free, 899.995.7300.

Cody Lyon, director of Grassroots and Policy Advocacy at American Farm Bureau Federation in Washington, will be the guest speaker and will talk about the most effective lobbies in the nations capital. One of the points that he stresses is that members of Congress want real messages from the people they represent.

'What they can pass along are their stories, of farms and ranches passed from generation to generation now jeopardized by the death tax, of Supreme Court rulings that endanger their rights as property owners and of a labor shortage that threatens the viability of the entire agricultural sector from dairy farmers in New York to citrus growers in California,' Lyon wrote in an article for North Dakota Farm Bureau.

There will be a business meeting and discussion of policies and issues that will impact agriculture in the next legislative sessions in Albany and Washington, DC.

Issues are presented by the Farm Bureau board, but may also be proposed from the floor by regular Farm Bureau members.
