11 wins for NHS tennis team

Newark senior tennis players are Chelsea Hinckley, Stacey Brooks, Allison Minger and Emily Oberdorf.

The Reds celebrated their 11th win of the season Thursday at Naples.

The Newark girls previously defeated the Finger Lakes West Champions - Mynderse - and runner-up Marcus Whitman, in the final weeks of the regular match season. Newark has shown great improvement and has more victories than any Newark tennis team in history.

Winning at Naples in singles were seniors Stacey Brooks, Allison Minger and Chelsie Hinckley. These three singles players won 36 of 48 games for a total of 6 sets to 0, to secure the team win for Newark.

Brooks, Minger and Hinckley have won 36 matches and more than 250 games.

Also winning were Allison Wilck and Tabitha Kramer. They had one set won before rain ended the match for the second straight day.

The Newark girls are having one of the finest seasons ever, with Coach Jack Fisher. They won their final home match of 4-1 over Bloomfield

At Sectional Qualifiers Oct. 7 at Pal-Mac: Newark qualified more players than any other team.

Of the best 18 singles players in class B, Brooks & Minger placed 3rd & 4th. In doubles, Wilck and Hinckley placed 4th. These four advance to the Individual Sectional Championships next week.
