We say 'thanks' to Gord, and to Bill DeWandel, for assembling the new storage shelves at Jennie's House.

Sports reports from last week - sorry they didn't get in the column on Oct. 3.

Williamson breaks Marion Varsity girls winning streak: On Tuesday, September 23rd the Williamson girls varsity team beat the Lady Black Knights 2-0.

Sept. 26, Homecoming Game - Marion topped Red Creek 3-1. Scoring were Sam DeFisher, Jaimie Adriaansen and Kristina Schutt. Assists were made by Lea Blondell and Kayleigh Buyck. Senior goalie Kendyl Smeatin made three saves during the game.

Thanks! to the students and staff at the Marion Elementary School who collected around 500 lbs. of food items for the Marion Food Pantry.

Remember there's no school Monday, for the observance of Columbus Day.

In talking with Pearl Ververs, I found out that she and Hank spent the weekend at Tupper Lake. She said the foliage was 'just beautiful.'

October 4, 1951: Physical Education Department of Marion Central was thrilled to see workmen start laying the floor in the new gym this week.

October 1917: The Newark and Marion railroad, which has been closed since March 31, again resumed freight traffic October 2. No passengers are yet taken as the coach is undergoing repairs.
