Energy-saving workshops in Lyons and Rose Gov. Paterson announced a package of state initiatives to help New Yorkers reduce their energy use and spend less to heat their homes this winter. The package includes significant increases in benefits and changes to eligibility levels for the states heating assistance program, an additional $49 million for household energy efficiency programs, improved agency administration of efficiency and heating assistance programs, and expanded workshops to help homeowners and renters to reduce their energy use at little or no cost. Cornell Cooperative Extension of Wayne County provides Save Energy, Save Dollars workshops: Oct. 20 from 10 to noon, at the offices of Finger Lakes Works, Nye Rd., Lyons Oct. 22, from 1-3 p.m. at Rose Grange on Rt. 414.
