Yoga classes beginning in Lyons

yoga workout Barb Baker, a certified yoga instructor from Wolcott, will offer a yoga classes at the Lyons Public Library beginning Sept. 17 from 5:30-7 p.m.

The classes will feature poses especially chosen for beginners; participants may join at any time during the series. Prior to the beginning of the six-week series will be a free introductory session on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at the library from 5:30-7 p.m.

'Yoga gives the energy to enjoy life freely and with enjoyment,' says Baker. 'As various poses are mastered, the practitioner experiences enhanced self-esteem. The reasons why millions of people are practicing yoga is that it gives us a sense of freedom and expansiveness in our bodies, minds, and spirits, unlike the endorphin high that people experience with western exercises.'

Baker has been teaching yoga for more than 10 years and was certified as an instructor under Francois Raoult of the Open Sky Yoga Center in Rochester.
