Chorale rehearses Tuesdays in Palmyra

The Canaltown Chorale will begin rehearsals for its new season on Tuesday, September 9. All rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9 in the basement of the First United Methodist church in Palmyra. The first concert will be the annual Christmas concert in December that will include traditional Christmas music.

The Chorale will be working with music director, Jerry Hefley. Richard Crooks will be accompanist for the coming season. There are 35-40 members in the Chorale. Some have sung with the group since its conception in 1980. Singers are from Wayne, Ontario and Monroe counties.

The Chorale performs three concerts per year. These will include the Christmas concert, a Celtic theme concert in March and a patriotic pops concert in June. The Chorale also performs at area nursing homes and community festivals throughout the year. There are no auditions required but some choral experience in helpful. Tenors and basses are especially needed. Anyone interested in joining the Chorale is invited to attend the September 9 rehearsal or any rehearsal in September.
