Visitors to Newark like the murals under East Ave. bridge
Click on small photos to view larger version A summer project recently completed, several murals were painted on the north side bridge abutment of Newark's Canal Port. The artwork depicts the early days of the Erie Canal, for which the village of Newark owes its existence. Sponsored by the Village of Newark, at a cost of $41,515, the murals were created by Corky Goss and Chip Miller, founders of Art in Public Places. (Photos were taken by Sandra Marcano) Included in the 2008-2009 village budget are funds to create a mural on one wall of the Alex Eligh Community Center.
