Meetings planned for Relay for Life Wayne County takes the fight against cancer seriously. For 11 years, Palmyra has hosted an American Cancer Society Relay For Life event (June 5, 2009). Now Clyde is following it their footsteps and going to host an event in July. Relay For Life is an overnight community celebration where individuals and teams camp out, barbecue, dance, and take turns walking around a track relay style to raise funds to fight cancer. Now in its 25th year, Relay has spread to 4700 communities in the United States and nine other countries. Relay For Life is an event that brings the community together. Meetings are planned: Monday, September 15, at 7 p.m. at the Clyde Grange (behind Key Bank). Meetings take place on the first Monday of each month (starting in October), at 7 p.m. at the Palmyra Community Center. Committee Members Many different committees are now forming in areas such as entertainment, games, food, prizes, etc. Event Volunteers are needed to assist with registration, participation, team recruitment, etc. Groups Local companies, community groups, civic associations, religious organizations, schools, etc. are encouraged to participate.
