Accused of arson, Lyons man is indicted
and remains in Wayne County Jail
By John Zornow, GateHouse News Service

Justin Confer Indicted by the Wayne County Grand Jury on September 9, Justin Confer, 20, of 49 Geneva St., Lyons will face six counts of third-degree arson for setting fires this spring and summer.

A volunteer with the Lyons Fire Department, Confer is accused of setting fires, between May and July, at residences on Water Street and Layton Road, at a trailer on Fink Road, and torching barns on Leach and Sutton Roads, outside of Lyons.

Both barns and the trailer were 'a total loss,' according to Sheriff Dept. Investigator Robert Hetzke. He said Confer battled all five fires with fellow Lyons firefighters.

Confer was arraigned before Wayne County Judge John Nesbitt, before whom he pleaded not guilty.

According to the Wayne County District Attorney's office, Confer was sent back to jail in lieu of $25,000 cash/$50,000 bail bond. He is to reappear in Lyons court on November 6.
