Event Saturday at Sodus Festival

The Wayne District Free and Accepted Masons will hold a child identification program at the First Annual Harvest Fest on October 4, from 9 to 4 at the Sodus Firemen's Field, on Mill Street.

The Child ID Program is the culmination of several years worth of effort by freemasons, statewide, to help in the recovery of missing children, should necessity require it, by recording the child's photo, fingerprints and physical characteristics. These specifics are recorded on a mini-disc and given to the parents of the child, FREE of charge, along with a printed sheet which may be trimmed and laminated to create a personal ID card for the child to carry.

The mini-disc is compatible with police departments and an Amber Alert may be initiated if necessary. All information is given to the family and there are NO materials maintained by the Masons after the child has been processed. No appointments are necessary.

This is the Mason's response to the alarming fact that over 1,000,000 children are reported missing in the United States each year, of which, more that 21,000 are cases from New York State.
