Arrest Made in Missing Juvenile Case

Dale S. McCarthyThe Newark Police Department reports that the investigation following the return of a missing juvenile to the Village of Newark on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 has resulted in the arrest of a Cayuga County man.

Dale S. McCarthy, 40, of 884 Howell Road, Port Byron, N.Y., was arrested by NYS Police on three counts of Rape in the third degree, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal sale of marijuana in the fifth degree.

McCarthy was arraigned in the Town of Conquest Court, and released on $1,000 bail, to answer charges on November 10.

Newark Interim Police Chief David Christler said that the victim was on her way home from the Newark Dollar store on West Miller St., when she became acquainted with McCarthy and two other individuals and went with them to Cayuga County. When eventually returned by McCarthy to Newark, she was found to be impaired by marijuana, provided to her by McCarthy.
