St. Michael School hosts SUBMITTED PHOTO NEWARK - St. Michael School hosted the Wayne County Regional Competition for the Rite Aid Drug Quiz Show March 11. Participating were teams from Lyons, Newark and St. Michael School. The Rite Aid Drug Quiz Show strives to heighten school/home/community substance abuse awareness by providing middle school students with the opportunity to have fun, while gaining knowledge, skills and self confidence needed to make safe, healthy, real life choices, including those regarding the use of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs. The competition was based on accumulated points. St. Michael School won the first round with a score of 42 and went on to beat the Lyons team with a score of 12. Volunteers and moderators came from Schuyler, Seneca, Wayne and Yates counties. They included professionals from the Council of Alcoholism, the Wayne County Probation Department, Wayne County Public Health, the Ontario Town Court Justice, Hillside Family of Agencies, AIDS Rochester, Ibero- American Action League, Wayne County Department of Aging and Youth, Boy Scouts and a Wayne Central School Student intern.
