Substitute teaching course offered NEWARK - The Wayne-Finger Lakes Board of Cooperative Educational Services' substitute registry will offer training to perspective substitutes who wish to work within this four-county region April 7 and 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Eisenhower Building, Jack Loveless Conference Room, at the BOCES Regional Support Center at 131 Drumlin Court in Newark. The cost for this training is $25 per person which includes lunches and all materials. This two-day, 10-hour training course covers information on school expectations, classroom procedures, behavior management, lesson plans and much more. Information on applications and fingerprinting requirements are also covered. This course also assists current substitute teachers to enhance classroom management and teaching skills. Qualifications for school substitutes vary across the region from a high school diploma to college credit and/or a college degree. Participants who successfully complete the substitute course receive a certificate of completion. Registrations are taken up to the day before the course begins at www.wflboces.org.
