Training offered as part of NEWARK - As part of an Alcohol Awareness Month campaign, the Council on Alcoholism and Addictions is offering a one-day training, The Alcohol and Drug Primer. The training, a six hour workshop, will include information on the social and medical aspects of alcohol and other drugs, chemical dependency, family issues, gambling, and an overview of community treatment and referral resources. The training will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 15 at the third floor at 165 E. Union St. in Newark. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. While considered a basic training on alcohol and other drugs, this training is appropriate for everyone, including professionals, parents and the general public. Teachers, human service workers, businessmen, clergy, emergency response personnel and medical and criminal justice personnel have found the training informative and helpful. The training is open to anyone interested in accurate, well-researched information regarding alcohol and other drug use. Registration is limited, fee is $20. Lunch is not provided.
