Green Team hosts recycling event NEWARK - The third annual Newark Park Presbyterian Church 'Earth Day E-Waste and More' electronic waste recycling event will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 19 in the East Avenue parking lot adjacent to the church and Alex Eligh Community Center. The event will be held in cooperation with Maven Technologies LLC of Rochester, and ALPCO Recycling Inc. of Macedon, and will offer area residents an opportunity to recycle unwanted electronics and more. Items accepted at the event include: televisions (all kinds - $10 each) and monitors (all kinds - $5 each); computers, laptops, servers/routers/network/storage equipment, modems, printers, peripherals, cell/landline phones, fax machines, copiers, IT equipment, audio/visual gear and other consumer electronics containing printed circuit boards. In general, any piece of equipment having a power cord can be recycled. Household alkaline/rechargeable batteries, small liquid propane tanks and used sneakers will also be accepted. Items added to the list this year include scrap metals of all kinds, all types of household appliances (refrigerants included), vehicle/lawn/cycle batteries and rimless tires (disposal price - $3 per tire or 2 for $5). Items not accepted include household hazardous waste materials, liquids of any kind, paints and light bulbs of any kind. For more information on proper disposal of these items, contact Finger Lakes Waste Authority. A can and bottle drive benefiting Newark High School's Operation Graduation will coincide with the event. Free-will donations will also be accepted, and half of the proceeds collected for televisions and monitors will be used to support Green Team events and initiatives.
