Sodus Point Park to open SODUS POINT - For those who are looking for a fun and free place for summer leisure time, be sure to visit Sodus Point Park. Take a walk on the pier, go for a swim in the water, or just stop by to enjoy the scenery. Visitors can make use of the pavilion for picnics, enjoy the beach volleyball set and kids can have fun on the playground. Restrooms and showers are available for public use, as well as plenty of free parking. June 30 kicks off the official 2009 supervised swim season. Both the lakeside and the bayside beaches will be manned by American Red Cross certified lifeguards from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week. Sodus Point Park's annual Fun-in-the-Sun event is scheduled for July 14 through 16. The annual Triathlon is set for Aug. 16.
