Palmyra to host bird festival

PALMYRA - For one day only Palmyra will host its first Bird Fest in the village from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 25.

Birding fun is planned for everyone. Experience guided bird walks, live birds of prey demonstrations, exotic bird displays, gardening educational information. Enjoy a walk along the Erie Canal. Meet Booker B. Owwl. Children's books and activities will be included, as will a display of bird feeders, birding books, spotting scopes, bird skulls and other science and nature materials. A chance at winning a bird feeder can be purchased.

Meet at the Palmyra Village Park on East Main Street for the fest. Groups are welcome. Each guided bird walking tour is limited to 30 people, so though reservations are not necessary, they are strongly recommended. To reserve a guided bird walk tour space, call the village hall at 597-4849 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. or Liberty House Bed & Breakfast at 597-0011. Dress for the weather.
