Beauty and the Beast Jr. to be performed 
at T.C. Armstrong Middle School

ONTARIO - Following the success of the world premiere of 'Willy Wonka,' T.C. Armstrong Middle School is now hard at work on the production of 'Beauty and the Beast Jr.' This recently released version of 'Beauty and the Beast' was designed specifically for middle school students.

Middle school music teacher, Mike Allen, is producing the show. Allen has taken the program from its inception with 'Pirates of Penzance' to the size and success that it is today. 'I wanted to give the students a program that included musical productions they could be proud of,' Allen explains as the motivator behind the program.

All students in the school, grades six through eight, are encouraged to perform or help out with the yearly musical in some way.

This year's production is sure to be a family favorite, with well-known numbers such as 'Be Our Guest' and 'Gaston.'

John Barthelmes and Patty Flowerday are back for their second year as artistic director and choreographer, respectively. 'I just loved working with these kids so much, I couldn't wait to return,' said Barthelmes.

This year's cast is headed up by Melanie McBride playing Belle, who played Ms. TeeVee in last year's production of 'Willy Wonka' and Matt Dell'Olio playing the Beast, who performed as Charlie Bucket last year.

You can also see Tyler Hecht as Gaston, James Light as Lefou, Cameron Priest as Maurice, Zach Miller as Cogsworth, Allison Mullin as Mrs. Potts, Summer Howard as Lumiere, Sarah Hooker as Chip, Julie Dombroski as Babette, Melissa Hill as Wardrobe, Phoenix Ebner as the Prince, Marisa Bremer as the Enchantress, Pauli Frawley as D'Arque, and Jennifer Schimpf and Alyshia DeFranco as the narrators. The silly girls are being played by Sam Caccimise, Cassie Clement, Amanda Crisafulli, Megan Mariani, Madi Murphy and Traci Schaumburg.

Featured soloists are Dominique Hamman as the aristocratic lady, Brittany Patton as the fish seller, Mike Fargo as the egg seller, Nikki Foster as the sausage curl girl, Billy Smith as the baker, Jenna Sacco as the lady with a cane, Taylor Rickman as the lady with a baby, Jason Huff as the candle maker, Brandon Sullivan as the hat seller, Eric Monahan as the milkman, Lindsay Bryant as the shepherd girl and Garrett Lasch as the bookseller.

The feature dancers are Becca Kittleson, Rachel Lonabile, Hannah Ludwig, Savannah Miller, Cindi Scanlon, Sabrina Sleiman, Lexi Spencer, Meaghan Quinn and Taylor Zugnoni. Featured acrobats are Melanie Aman, Megan Mariani and Emily Means.

The townspeople are Emily Blaakman, Tyler Cummings, Katyra Currington, Phoenix Ebner, Olivia Frink, Stephanie Gentz, Rachel Knapp, Abbigale Lasch, Zachary McLymond, Katherine Moore, Audrey Siebert, Brittany Sonneville and Natalie Wagner.

The enchanted objects are played by Melanie Aman, Hali Ambroz, Samantha Anseeuw, Meghan Barone, Marisa Bremer, Mareesa Boyatzies, Danielle Coyle, Emily Crysel, Lindsey Flower, Kayla Frieschlag, Gina Gruttadaurio, Vicki Helfer, Abigail Keirsbilck, Jamie Kuhn, Krystal Lange, Emily Lukash, Bethany McLean, Emily Means, Emmalynne Quinn, Baylee Saba, Caitlyn Wicks and Victoria Wilson.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday, May 1; at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, May 2; at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 3 at Wayne High School's Performing Arts Center at 6200 Ontario Center Road in Ontario Center.

A preview of the performance will be staged between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, April 25 at Barnes and Noble in Webster Towne Center located off Holt Road for their fundraiser book fair.
