VA Official provides resources for Veteran business owners

The Rochester Regional Veterans Business Council (RRVBC) monthly general membership meeting and lunch features guest speaker William Elmore, an Associate Administrator with the Veterans Administration (VA). Elmore will be discussing current policies and programs within the administration that assist or promote businesses owned by Veterans or Service Disabled Veterans. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 29 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. at the Shults Center at Nazareth College.

In order to attend, you must RSVP by contacting Jocene Preston at jocene.preston@veteransbusinesscouncil.org. Parking for the event is available in the Arts Center lot accessed through the Nazareth College south entrance off East Avenue and a short walk from the Shults Center. Lunch is provided for $10 and it is free of charge for first time attendees.

With over 20 years experience in entrepreneurship, Elmore helped launch 7 different national initiatives for veterans including the Small Business Administration Veterans Entrepreneur Training (VET) program and the SBA Task Force for Veterans Entrepreneurship. In addition, Elmore is an Air Force veteran.

'It is gratifying to know there is someone working at a high level at the Veterans Administration who is promoting Veteran business leaders,' said RRVBC President John Batiste, President, Klein Steel Service Inc., 'William has great insight and knowledge of national programs and its wonderful that he is willing to come here and share that with our membership.'

The RRVBC was formed in October 2006 and is open to veterans who own or operate businesses in the Greater Rochester area, to include director and senior level management. The organization provides a forum for veterans to network and grow their businesses, assist in the reintegration of veterans into the civilian workforce, and supports the Veterans Outreach Center.
