Order dates for Food Sense

NEWARK - Food Sense offers the opportunity to stretch food budgets by purchasing quality food at a discount. It's available to everyone everywhere.

No donated food is used in this program. It's a buying club, so there are no income requirements or quantity limits.

The cost per unit is $15.50. This includes 12 food items including fruits and vegetables, meats and grocery staples. There are five May Specials offered for an additional cost.

If unable to pick up food, Newark Rotary can deliver.

Order dates for the May 2009 delivery will be Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. up to the May 1 deadline at 10 a.m. sharp. Ordering will take place at Catholic Charities at 1141 East Union Street in Newark. Cash, Money Orders, and Food Benefit Cards are accepted.

There is a change in distribution location and times. Food orders may be picked up from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 14 at the Cornell Cooperative Extension at Route 88 North in Newark and from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Catholic Charities at 1141 East Union Street in Newark. The distribution sites cannot hold any food packages after the scheduled pick-up date/time.

Questions or inquiries may be directed to Sandy Thomas at 1141 East Union Street in Newark or call 331- 4867 or visit www.ccwayne.org.
