Diabetes education scheduled at Geneva General Hospital GENEVA - Finger Lakes Health will offer Living With Diabetes from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 6 at Geneva General Hospital at 196 North Street in Geneva. Living With Diabetes is designed to educate people with diabetes, their families and care givers about nutritional management, exercise, medication, blood glucose monitoring, prevention of complications and community resources. A certified diabetes educator will teach the class. Lunch will be provided for the full-day session. The class is offered monthly throughout the year for those unable to attend this session. The class is also held at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital in Penn Yan on a regular schedule. In addition to the diabetes course, Finger Lakes Health offers individual diabetes education and free monthly diabetes support groups. Individual diabetes education provides personal instruction on glucose monitoring, insulin injection, medications, nutrition, diabetes during pregnancy and general diabetes management. Cost of the class or individual counseling may vary according to insurance policy. Some insurance companies may cover the total or a portion of the cost and may require a physician referral.
