Canal tourism workshop scheduled The Western Erie Canal Alliance, representing the five counties of the Western Erie Canal Heritage Corridor, is offering three tourism workshops: May 12 in Macedon, May 19 in Albion and May 26 in North Tonawanda. The workshops are designed for businesses, museums and events coordinators to learn techniques and gather ideas for connecting their businesses with canal visitors. The Erie Canal is a growing tourism destination by car, bus, boat, bike and foot for visitors who want to enjoy the activities in the towns and villages. Along with the two-hour workshop and lunch, the attendees will be able to enjoy a special canal experience In Macedon, there is a luncheon cruise; in Albion, there will be a guided towpath tour; in North Tonawanda, there will be a session on interpreting the canal stories. The May 12 workshop is $28 per person, and the May 19 and 26 workshops are $20 per person. Workshops include materials, lunch and the canal experiences.
