Candy Apple temporarily relocates NEWARK - Candy Apple Children's Center will temporarily relocate to two individual sites beginning Tuesday, August 18. A childcare center with more than 30 years history and experience, Candy Apple will vacate their present site on the grounds of the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, where they have been for 16 years. The infant through 3-year-old program will be housed at the Roosevelt Children's Center on Pierson Avenue in Newark. The 4-year-old through school-age program will be held at Lincoln Elementary School on North Main Street. Volunteers are needed for the move, which will take place Aug. 14 and 15. Call 331-6966, if able to help. Plans are in the works for Candy Apple's permanent move to a new location, which is targeted for some time in 2010. Watch for details about their new home and expansion. In addition, Candy Apple has established an account with EZ Bottle and Can Return at 1167 E. Union St. Any bottles and cans delivered there can be credited to the children's center for help with the new building. For more information, call the center or EZ Bottle and Can at 331-2004.
