Historical map club forming

LYONS: The Museum of Wayne County History will host an exploratory meeting 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19 at the museum at 21 Butternut St. in Lyons for anyone interested in forming an historical map club.

The following are possible activities the club might do: discuss specific maps in the collection at the Museum of Wayne County History; review sources for historical maps of the area and state; discuss the possibility of field trips or walking tours in which several historical maps are used; utilize historical maps as evidence in assessing the change in either urban or rural landscapes; set up workshops on map reading skills; talk about map collecting; invite guest speakers to discuss current mapping operations in the county.
